Sawbuck Films
Sawbuck films offer short, gritty, chronicles of life "in the cut" ... depictions of the people, places, and things that society has ostracized, stigmatized, and otherwise marginalized. Our influences tend to be filmmakers who work, or used to work, in the cinema verite and/or "direct cinema" genres (e.g., Maysles). Check out some of our work below.

Cracked Quarters (2008)

Begging for Grace (2007)

The Brickyard: Home of All the Junkies (2006)

The films posted above can be purchased on DVD ... you'll find that they're of much higher quality (better sound, better resolution). Below you'll find the films listed in the order presented above: Cracked Quarters, Begging for Grace, and The Brickyard. Each one costs $10 plus $5 for shipping and handling. We ship by ordinary U.S. postal service, which means you'll get the product within about 7 business days of placing your order. Please follow the instructions immediately below to purchase one or more of the films. All proceeds go right back into making more films. Sales revenue allows us to provide stipends to the people who appear in our films and radio pieces.

This film contrasts the current experiences of methadone maintenance therapy patients with their past experiences as heroin addicts. Although methadone has allowed thousands of people to lead happy, productive, and law-abiding lives, many of its beneficiaries suffer the societal stigma of relying upon a medication rather than remaining completely abstinent. This film goes beyond labels and slogans by demonstrating the day-to-day differences between the methadone and heroin lifestyles.

If you want to purchase one of our films but would rather not use PayPal, please contact Greg Scott at greg@sawbuckproductions.org to arrange alternative payment arrangements. Thanks!
