Featured Poem One of Sawbuck's most devoted contributors/supporters--Marilee from Freeport, IL--submitted this poem to the site's guestbook. It's so poignant and moving that I must share it with you:
A picture is worth a thousand words
A voice is worth much more
The life of your son, your daughter,
a squatter, a junkie, a whore.
Hear the tears ring in their voices
Their pain bleeds through their fears
Their lives run like water through levees
Broken through by the storm of their years.
Use your eyes - don?t just look at the pictures
Use your ears - this time hear what they say
Use your heart - let it feel true compassion
If you do - then you can?t walk away.

Donations Sawbuck Productions' viability depends mostly on the contributions that our generous supporters make to us. Some Sawbuckians donate used camera equipment, others lend us production space or equipment, and still others provide us with food, clothing, personal hygiene materials, and assorted items that benefit the often impoverished people who share their lives with us on film and/or tape.
Everyone who appears in a Sawbuck production receives compensation. No one who works for Sawbuck receives material remuneration (much to their chagrin!). If you have something that you think someone less fortunate could use, please send it to us and we'll pass it along. We always try our best to provide monetary payment to those who appear in our documentary films and radio pieces, but it's not always possible. Giving them something in exchange for their time and for a piece of their life, IS always possible.
To make a donation of non-perishable goods (socks, gloves, hats, shoes, clothing, outdoor living supplies, etc., please call Greg Scott at 312-505-4521 to make shipping arrangements.
Because Sawbuck is a non-profit organization (501(c)3), your donation is tax deductible. Once we receive your donated items, we will place an estimated value on them and send you a letter thanking you for your contribution and providing you with out Tax ID Number. You can use this number to write-off the donation when you file your federal and state income taxes.
Making Financial Donations Here at Sawbuck we're also happy to accept financial donations. Monetary contributions go toward the production costs we incur, which includes stipend payments to the impoverished folks who appear in our work. We also use the money to offset some of our limited overhead costs. One thing I can promise you: No on here brings home a paycheck. Chances are, the donation you make today will be spent on a Sawbuck project tomorrow ... or the next day, at the latest.
Contributing financially to Sawbuck is easy .... Send us a check or make a donation through PayPal. If you don't like these options, we'll arrange something else. Just call us at 312-505-4521. Ask to speak to Greg or Erin. One of us will make sure we help you with the process of transferring money from your pocket to the advancement of a less fortunate person's well-being, and to favorable social change .......
Once we recieve your monetary donation, we will send you a letter of gratitude that includes our Tax ID Number. This will allow you to "write off" your contribution at the end of the tax year.
P.S. No amount is laughably small. We've accepted donations ranging from loose change retrieved from the crack in the back seat of someone's 1970 Buick Skylark to a bag of mismatched, gently used (but clean) gym socks, to sums exceeding $10,000. So don't be shy. Giving is good.
Sawbuck Affiliate Membership ($10-100)
Wondering how much to donate to the Sawbuck enterprise? Want to get something in return? Well, we've come up with three levels of Sawbuck "membership." Donate at one of these levels and you will receive some goodies as a token of our gratitude.
If you donate $10-100 you'll become a Sawbuck Affiliate. If your donation is more than $50, we'll send you a free Sawbuck Productions T-Shirt. In the "instructions to seller", please indicate your size in Youth, Women's, or Men's.
A donation of $100-200 gets you into the Sawbuck Associate Club. We'll send you a T-Shirt and any DVD of your choice. In the instructions to seller, give us your shirt size and tell us which DVD you want.
Giving $200-500 puts you in the Sawbuck Member Club. You'll receive a T-Shirt and two DVDs of your choice. Again, specify your size and DVD titles in the instructions to seller.
Finally, if you donate more than $500, you'll gain entrance to the inner circle known as Sawbuck Gold Membership. We'll send you a T-Shirt, three DVDs of your choice, and a whole bunch of behind-the-scenes and off the record stuff.
